Adventures of an Italian Food Lover is a passionate culinary introduction to Willinger's many Italian friends, their foods, shops, markets, recipes and stories.

This gourmand's travel book to Italy entices readers to meet the people that Willinger describes and taste their foods. Readers who cannot visit Italy are able to replicate their recipes at home.

Wine-makers & chefs

Each chapter begins with Faith Heller Willinger's description of her experiences with virgin olive oil producers, wine makers and chefs in the region. She then introduces us to restaurant owners, cheesemakers, vintners, fishermen, butchers and vendors of fresh vegetables.

She divides their personal recipes into antipasto, first courses, main courses, side dishes and desserts. Each Italian recipe includes number of servings, ingredients and detailed, yet simple, preparation instructions.

Italian restaurants

For each regional Italian restaurant and shop, Willinger includes phone number, website/email and street address, opening hours and credit cards accepted.

Watercolor images of Italian food, friends and scenery by Faith Heller Willinger's sister, Susan Heller, illustrate Adventures of an Italian Food Lover.
