The 100+ family-friendly recipes in Whining & Dining help parents win mealtime battles with picky eaters.
Whining & Dining provides 218 pages of helpful hints and humorous examples of how to provide nutritious meals and snacks to demanding, picky eaters.
Recipes are simple and easy-to-follow. There are tips on nearly every page: healthy substitutes for fast foods, ways to disguise vegetables in desserts, muffins and breads, short cuts for making pizza from bagels, pita and crackers and saving calories by baking rather than frying.
Numerous, full-page color photos by Jenna Muirhead-Warren depict cute kids eating, as well as mouthwatering images of some of the recipes.
The authors define rules for kids, e.g., No saying 'yuck!' and for adults, e.g., No lecturing! Whining & Dining then provides battle plans (recipes) and weapons (tips) to help parents prepare healthy meals the whole family can enjoy.
A special section describes creative lunch box carbs, proteins, fruits, veggies, spreads, dips and treats. There is a whole chapter on parties, ranging from adult-only to children's birthday parties.
Beyond Boxed Macaroni and Cheese. Blueberry Cornmeal Muffins. Banana Chocolate Oatmeal Bread. Crisp Roasted Squash Wedges. Pad Thai. Spaghetti with Tuna, Tomatoes and Olives. Pork Chops with Pineapple. Deep-dish Pear and Cranberry Pie. A First Birthday Party menu with grilled veggies, egg salad, tuna salad and vanilla birthday cake.
